MoMA--A Visit to the Museum of Modern Art

We visited the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

It's a beautiful building, and even first thing in the morning, there was a long line-up to get in.

I quickly abandoned the abstract exhibition. I guess I'm just not into lines and circles. If I'm going abstract, I want a Picasso. These kids were so astute and were making comments on what they thought the painting meant. It was pretty impressive!

After that, I just wandered and took the photos below...

Monet's famous water lilies...the photo just cannot do it justice.

More abstract...

This was eye catching...

I loved this painting so much. The detail was just incredible...

The famous Starry Night...

This painting was a favourite for both Jim and me. It was absolutely stunning and overshadowed everything else in the room.

Edward Munch's The Scream...

It almost looks like a child's drawing...

Some of the paintings were just so fascinating. The weird minds of an artist...

This was way out there. There is so much going on in this painting...

For Damian and Dominic...

Seriously?

This reminded me of dryer lint...

And I never did find the bullet hole, and spent quite a few minutes looking for it!

It kind of looks like it might be soft and comfy...

The famous Marilyn Monroe...

Quite...different!

Well, thank heavens he reworked it...

Just no words for this one...

Hmmm...not the Punch and Judy I remember...

The museum is huge...

There was a lovely garden of sculptures, but it was closed...

Definitely worth the visit...so many different styles of art with something for everyone!

Went in august 2008. When we saw the "lint" or whatever it is- all we could do was laugh. I mean, some things are artistic and some things are just lint on the floor. The met was way better than moma.
