A Day of Visiting in Brampton

We arranged to meet with Sharon Baker and her husband, Jeff, at Cora's in Brampton for brunch. Sharon and I used to work together at Hepworth a few years back, so it was great to catch up on where everyone is and what has been going on. Sharon and Jeff also like to travel a lot, so it's always good to pick up tips from them as well. It's nice to keep in touch!

In the afternoon, we headed over to visit my cousin, Maureen. We have only just recently reconnected with Maureen. Her mom and my dad were brother and sister, and since her mom passed away in the late 80s, there hadn't been much contact with that side of the family. Maureen and her husband, Wayne, were very brave when they got married 40 years ago, as it was certainly ahead of the times for a white woman and a black man to marry. But after 3 children, several grandchildren and one great-grandchild (with another on the way), they're still a great couple.

Maureen reminded me of Mom when I called..."Well, it's about time. Get over here!" We visited and met Angie, Wayne and Maureen's oldest daughter. Then we all went to the Mandarin restaurant for dinner. What a huge place and a buffet to please everyone. If you can't find something you like there, you're way too fussy!! The price during the week is cheaper, but on the weekend it is a set $25 and there was about an hour line-up. I think the place must seat 400-500 people, so I can only imagine how much money flies through there!! It was really good and it's a chain, so if you see a Mandarin restaurant, it's worth a stop.

Here's a picture of Angie, Maureen & me and another one of her telling us to "Do something!", so we did!

Then one of some satisfied customers leaving the Mandarin!

It was a great day for visiting and catching up. Now we're heading to Niagara-on-the-Lake....
